In our Reception Class we aim to offer a happy, welcoming, secure and stimulating environment to provide all children with the opportunity to learn tegether. Each child is appreciated as an individual and given the opportunities to develop to their full potential. We work to ensure that each child knows that he or she is valued and that each other's background (race, culture and religion) is understood and respected here. From this basis we aim to develop a confident and positive self-image for each child. We acknowledge parents as the prime educators of their children, especially during the first five years of their life, and consequently we actively encourage home school intellectual and physical well being, providing the children with positive attitudes and approches to learning for the future. We also acknowledge that play has a vital role in young children learning and we promote well planned play both indoors and outdoors.
2006:THE GIRL WHO LOST HER SMILE
Reception Class, Year 1 and Year 2 visited the Courthouse in Otley to watch a theatre group performing. They all thoroughly enjoyed the show. The children responded with a whole mixture of emotions: laughter, empathy and wonder. One little boy in Reception cried at the end because he was so sad that it had finished!!!!
